Angular contact ball bearings are special rolling bearings where the line connecting the contact points between the flow paths of the inner and outer rings and the rolling elements (metal balls) makes a certain angle (contact angle) with the roll axis. With this design, they can withstand radial loads and unidirectional or bidirectional axial loads at the same time. The larger the contact angle, the stronger the axial load carrying capacity, but the lower the limiting speed. The typical contact angles are 15° (node C), 25° (AC), 30°, and 40° (B).
Precision grades, from lowest to highest, are classified as P0 (standard), P6, P5, P4, and P2. P4 categories and above are typically used in applications that require very high turning accuracy, such as precision machinery and aerospace engines.
Angular contact ball bearings consist of an inner ring, an outer ring, a cage, and rotating elements. The inner and outer rings are typically made of alloy steel, while the rolling elements can be made of alloy steel or silicon nitride. Cages are usually made of metal or resin materials.
